C

:
According to Wikipedia, a Community of interest (CoI) is a community of people who share a common interest or passion. These people exchange ideas & thoughts about the given passion, but may know (or care) little about each other outside of this area. Participation in a community of interest can be compelling, entertaining & create a ‘sticky’ community where people return frequently and remain for extended periods. They need not be limited to a particular geographical area.

In the akDLN, communities of interest may be developed for groups working on shared editing of presentations or documents, conversing about projects, or for other intentions which rely upon many members adding new information and thereby the site.

Editing a document is much easier in a CoI using a wiki. The entire history is available, but readers see only the newest collaboration unless they seek an earlier version. No more wondering which is the newest version! No more getting out of sync and accidently editing an older version.

Electronic learning (or e-Learning or eLearning) provides instruction via computer & telecommunications technology. In-person interaction may or may not take place.

E-learning is used in a wide variety of contexts. In companies, it is referred to the strategies that use the company network to deliver training courses to employees. In universities, e-learning is a way to attend a course or programs of study where the students rarely, if ever, attend face-to-face or use on-campus access to educational facilities, because they study on-line. E-learning platforms also permit Communities of Interest to share information through informal or peer teaching and electronic conversing.

Wikipedia "electronic learning" has much more on this.

W

:
